About this work
The lock is unadorned except for a signature and a stamp on the lockplate. The damascus steel barrel is grey and has a brass patch; stamped on top with the coat of arms of Middelburg. The stock is carved in relief with a bush of roses and inlaid with silver wire around a cartouche on the grip. The furniture is made of gilded brass and includes, among other things, a butt cap engraved with borders, vines with leaves, and a military trophy.
