About this work
Model of a capstan on a wooden floor. It is a spindle with a winch in the head and four pawls in the heel against backsliding. The head has a loose wooden deck plate decorated with a star and is fixed to the brass shaft, which is set with a square heel in the reinforced floor. The drum is provided with a toothed wheel under the head, driven by two handles with roundels in the head; the drum thus rotates under the head. The drum has six clamps. Scale 1:10 (estimate).
