Officer's Sword

So-called 'état-major sword' without scabbard, with broken point. Straight blade with flattened rhomboid cross-section, blued for one-third from the grip and damascened with gold. The grip plates are of ribbed ivory, with a gilded oval grip shield with the crowned monogram of King Willem I in the center. The pommel has the shape of a half-climbing lion, with a vine-decorated knuckle bow, quillon with hanging quillon plate with anchor in laurel branch.
