About this work
The Rogstekers of Weert, ca. 1650. Satirical print in which all kinds of different fools in the town of Waert (Weert in Limburg) go to battle against (the imaginary danger of) a dead ray. In the center a large ray, on which a cannon is fired. In the background right a mill; in the background left a tree to which a bell is attached that is being rung. Over the entire sheet countless figures with different attributes and explanatory texts. Longer verses in three corners.
