About this work

Allegory on the Greedy World, or the Rise and Fall of Share Trading. Central figure seated on a world globe with a coin of King Philip IV of Spain from 1664 as its head. The scene is further filled with various examples of human folly in the pursuit of money, fights, quacks, farmers, etc. At the top, a verse in four columns in Dutch, with some inscriptions also within the scene. The model for print 70 in the series The Great Theatre of Folly with satires on the Wind Trade or Share Trading of 1720.
