About this work
The ten wise and foolish virgins wait in the foreground for the bridegroom. The five wise virgins on the left hold their oil lamps burning. The five foolish virgins on the right make music, drink, and sleep while letting their oil lamps lie. In the background, Christ as bridegroom receives the wise virgins. The foolish virgins knock in vain at the door. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Matt. 25:1. This print is part of an album.
