About this work

Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Catherine of Siena meeting Christ, top right Saint Marianus hanged by the hands, bottom left Saint Eutropius killed by a man with a sword, bottom right Saint Sophia with a palm branch. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are always printed on one sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, there are in total 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut in the third state into 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
