Sheet with four oval scenes, each with inscription and date in Latin: top left Saint Mercurius of Cappadocia gives his sword to (or receives it from?) an angel in heaven, top right Saint Peter of Alexandria kneeling before a child, bottom left Saint Conrad of Constance who drives out devils from a woman, bottom right Saints Barlaam and Josaphat of India kneeling next to each other in a cave. This print is part of a series of prints depicting the saints and the Christian feast days of the year. Four scenes from one plate are printed on each sheet. Including the corresponding title page and frontispiece, the series comprises 124 plates (490 scenes). The three plates with the last 12 scenes (the moveable Christian feast days) were cut down in the third state to 12 small prints, and issued with a separate title page.
