About this work
A soldier, full-length, holding a musket (a certain type of firearm) with his left hand. On the pan (part of the ignition mechanism) of his musket lies the lit match. He blows over it, while with the index and middle finger of his right hand covering the pan (the powder reservoir) of his musket, to protect the powder from sparks of the match. This print is part of the series of 43 numbered prints of musketeers from the Wapenhandelinghe.
