About this work

A soldier, full-length, facing right, placing a musket (a specific type of firearm) on his left shoulder with his right hand, the barrel pointing diagonally upward. In his left hand, a burning match and a fork (musket fork), ca. 1645. Free after plate 33 in the instructions for handling the musket in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn. Military affairs around 1600.
