About this work
Outbreak of fire in a house on the Leidsegracht, at the corner with the Herengracht, in Amsterdam. During a very severe frost on 12 January 1684. Water is scooped from holes in the frozen canal for the hose fire engines. On the right, on the ice, spectators. With a three-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 16 in the Fire Engine Book by Jan van der Heyden.
