About this work
A soldier, full-length, carrying a spear (lance) in his left hand by his right side, the point directed diagonally upwards. This is the second action for lowering the spear to pass under an overhang. Design for plate 13 in the instructions for handling the spear in the Wapenhandelinghe by J. de Gheyn (1607). Military affairs around 1600. Design for a print.
