About this work

Hearth plate of cast iron, with a semicircular top. In the center stands the personification of Peace with a palm branch in her hand, with drapery above her and the inscription PAX. Peace stands on weapons and two men. Directly next to Peace the inscription Ao 1648 24OC. The whole is framed with a border, decorated with a pearl border and mirrored leaf motifs, the lower ones differing from those on the sides. At the top a vase with flowers. The top is crowned with three knobs with two climbing dolphins on each side.
