Linen damask napkin with the history of Abraham. Central field: the symmetric pattern shows from bottom to top two scenes: 1. The Sacrifice of Abraham. Abraham, with bare head and in wide cloak and short tunic, has one hand placed on the head of Isaac, who lies on the side kneeling on some firewood for an altar. In his raised hand Abraham holds the curved sword, which is held back by a descending angel. In the center a ram's head between thorn bushes with a tree above it. 2 Abraham drives away Hagar and Ishmael. Abraham stands in front of his house, a hat on his head, hands Hagar a field flask and bread. Hagar is barefoot, wears a veil in the Sévigné hairstyle and holds both hands in front of Ishmael, who stands between them and looks up at his mother. Inscription: HYSMAEL. Standing borders: Single vine with flowers and fruit; outside that: block border.
