Strip of bobbin lace with twigs with five leaves on the center line

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Binche lace. The repeating pattern consists of a jumble of small motifs made with different grounds. The clearest motif in the pattern is a hanging five-leafed branch on the center line, made in linen stitch. Around the branch a symmetrical arrangement of shapes can be seen. On both sides the branch is flanked by three ovals placed against each other, hanging directly below is a drop-shaped motif and the branch is crowned by a rhombus-shaped motif. The outlines of these, and of some other motifs in the pattern, are entirely or partially emphasized with narrow decorative bands with rectangles, made in form stitch. The motifs are connected by an irregular ground, a snowflake ground. The upper and lower sides of the strip are finished straight, with the lower side provided with picots.
