Handkerchief of batiste with embroidery of eight richly decorated medallions along the edges and a richly decorated letter T

Handkerchief of natural-coloured batiste with embroidery - white work with French embroidery - and finished all around with a gathered applied strip of bobbin lace: Valenciennes lace. The embroidery pattern consists along the edges of two straight profile lists filled with rose garlands. Between the lists runs a leaf vine with acorns. The vine is crossed by standing oval medallions, each decorated at the top with a putto and at the bottom with two lion heads. In the openwork centres in the medallions fine fillings are made with needle lace stitches, with small scalloped picots, star flowers and fine diamonds. Above one corner medallion a letter T is embroidered, also richly decorated with, among others, a putto, roses, forget-me-nots and leaf vines with acorns. This may concern a monogram TLV or TJV (?). The strip of bobbin lace has a repeating pattern of a hanging goblet-shaped flower on a curved branch with three rosette flowers and some oval leaves.
