Handkerchief with a needle lace border with rose bouquets in medallions on the corners and violets along the edges

Handkerchief of batiste with a border of natural needle lace: Brussels gauze lace. Square model with an octagonal center of batiste and a wide border of lace. In each corner stands an oval medallion with a small bouquet of roses inside and radiating feathered leaves around. Between the medallions runs a straight decorative band on each side with a diamond-shaped grid with below it, along the outer edge of the handkerchief, a row of flowers of five violets. The feathered leaves around the medallions and the violets form the shell border. Around the batiste center volutes with acanthus leaves. The motifs are built up from festoon stitches and provided with relief contours. The motifs are connected to each other by a gauze lace ground, with here and there dots. Sparingly applied decorative stitches in flower hearts.
