About this work
Strip of natural-coloured Dutch bobbin lace. The repeating pattern consists of a stylised peony from which a long curved leaf springs on the left and right with a smaller flower turned towards the peony at the end. The motifs are connected to each other by a round lattice ground with braid stitches. The motifs are made in linen stitch, where openwork edges create contours around petals and leaf veins. The top and bottom of the strip are finished straight.
