About this work

Strip of natural-colored machine-made lace. The repeating pattern along the lower half of the strip consists of a series of U-shaped motifs made with decorative grounds. Under each 'leg' of a U hangs a rosette flower downwards. This flower together with the U-shaped fields creates a scallop border along the lower side of the strip. In the U-shaped field stands a flower branch with two smaller rosette flowers. Between these flowers a twig with leaves sticks upwards. Under the flowers hang two larger leaves. The upper half of the strip has a widely scattered scatter pattern of mosses between which one row of hanging leaf branches. The motifs are partly provided with contour threads and are connected by a fine machine-made tulle ground. A narrow border along the upper side is made in machine-made rose stitch. The scallop border along the lower side of the strip is finished with picots.
