About this work
Handkerchief of natural-colored mixed lace: Brussels duchesse. Around a large, hollow scalloped batiste center runs a lace border with large oval links or medallions with a fine mesh ground (needle lace), on which lies a flower sprig. In the corners the links are intersected by a large, diagonally placed bell-shaped reserve, with a mesh ground, on which stands an oval medallion (needle lace). The links are surrounded by linked rosettes. Each medallion lies enclosed between two acanthus leaves. Along the edge runs a fine godron border.
