About this work
Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Antwerp lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of an oval-shaped cartouche along the bottom edge, of which the top reaches to the middle line of the strip. From the top spring on both sides of the cartouche a round flower on a long curling stem. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a square Valenciennes ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with thicker and shiny contour threads. In among others the flowers and the cartouche as decorative ground various snowflake grounds are applied. Top and bottom edges are straight finished, with picots on the bottom edge.
