She wears a long wrap skirt (redda) of fabric with a floral pattern, and a wide Portuguese blouse with long sleeves (hatte). Her hair, parted in the middle, is combed tightly back into a bun (condé). Her right hand rests on her lap, next to a pan she holds with her left hand. The chair is a simple Portuguese model with a woven rush or rattan seat and back. It appears to be a rocking chair.
