An Eurasian woman sits on a rock. She is dressed in a long wrap skirt (redda) and a wide Portuguese blouse with a V-neck and long sleeves (hatte). Her hair is thick and wavy, without a middle part, but likely tied back in a bun (condé). On her lap lies something resembling an open pouch. Her left hand holds something, possibly an areca nut. In the background on the left, a small house is sketched very roughly with a doorway; the house (mati geya) has timber-framed walls of woven reeds and palm leaves, filled and plastered with clay (mati), and a projecting roof of coconut palm leaves (cadjan).
