About this work
Model of a capstan on a wooden floor. It is a capstan for eight windlasses and has four piles in the base to prevent backsliding. The drum has four "Brown's clamps": these are fairly thin teeth that widen and thicken above and below and are provided with metal reinforcement. The king, which is fixed with a square foot in the floor and around which the drum rotates, is made of brass and is secured under the deck plates of the cap with a nut; the floor is significantly reinforced. The model is equipped with two windlasses. The model bears the same inscription as NG-MC-206. Scale 1:10 (scale on model).
