About this work
Model of a part of the stern of a wooden ship (starboard side), on a baseboard. The model shows the keel, the frames with senten, and part of the stern frame and the propeller shaft. The frames immediately forward and immediately aft of the propeller shaft packing are of different shape to allow the shaft to pass through. The packing is in a thick wooden block, reinforced on the outside with a toothed metal plate and on the inside with a transverse beam and a metal knee.
